Rotax MiniMax And Rotax Junior Local Option Classes Added For Michiana Manufacturer's Cup Event
03.03.2009 - Weekends for 2 Cycle racing just got a little busier, especially on the George Kugler Bridgestone Manufacturer's Cup Series driven by Mazda. As the series swings to Michiana Raceway Park in South Bend, Indiana May 1-3 for the MRP Speed School Nationals, the front end of the racing weekend will be enhanced by the addition of two Local Option classes.
As the traditional Friday practice day comes to a conclusion, drivers competing in the Rotax MiniMax and Rotax Junior classes will get an opportunity to compete as local option participants. While final details are yet to be ironed out, the two classes will take part in Friday practice for a few sessions, with their final session serving as their qualifying run.
Following a brief break, allowing competitors time to get ready for the race, competitors will return to the track for their final event. If necessary, a pre final will be run prior to the final, depending on kart count in each class.
The Rotax MiniMax and Rotax Junior classes will run Friday only. Rotax Max Challenge rules apply. And competitors will be required to run the Mojo tire. Entry fee for the Local Option classes will be $45, with temporary memberships available that weekend for $20. It is important to note that Local Option classes do not count towards a year-end national championship.
