WKA Adds Local Option $$$ Classes to Hanging Rock Dirt National

02.10.2009 - Due to the continued popularity of some flathead classes as well as the emergence of the Clone Motor, World Karting officials have elected to add 3 classes as Local Options for the season opener for the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series March 27-29 at The Hanging Rock Kartway in Kershaw, South Carolina.

With strong numbers coming from competitors in the Briggs Medium and Heavy Flathead classes, as well as the Clone class in that area, the opportunity to be a part of the national program just became more of a reality. Additionally, all three classes will pay the top three finishers at the culmination of their 20 lap main event.

The Local Option Classes will be afforded the same track time as the national points classes, regarding practice, qualifying, and mains, which will be 20 laps in distance. It is imperative to understand that these classes are STRICTLY Local Option, and their results DO NOT count towards a year-end championship.

Temporary memberships will be available to the local option racers, at a one-time fee of $20 for the weekend. Temporary memberships only apply to that weekend's events. If a competitor running a Local Option class prefers to run at any other national facility in the future, he or she will again have to pay the temporary membership fee of $20 at each venue. Entry fees for the Local Option classes will be set at $45 per class.
