WKA Road Racing Unlimited / 250 Twin Class Update

12.01.2008 -- It has been brought to our attention that there is some confusion on the previously announced change to the Unlimited class. For the 2009 racing season, the Dunlop Tire National Road Racing Series driven by Mazda Unlimited class will remain as originally published in the 2009 Tech Manual.

In addition, 250 Twin karts will be allowed to compete in the Unlimited class as opposed to being raced and scored in its own separate local option class in the past. The post-race minimum weight for the 250 Twins competing in the WKA Unlimited class is 490 pounds and sit-up style (ICE) karts must comply with the USSK engine and chassis tech rules. Traditional laydown-style karts must comply with WKA tech rules as published in the WKA Tech Manual when utilizing a 250-twin engine and will also run at the 490-pound post-race minimum weight.

The addition of the 250 Twins has many benefits to the competitor. Primarily, it allows WKA members the opportunity to race their 250-karts at WKA venues and to bolster the participation in the WKA Unlimited class.

WKA acknowledges that participation by the 250 Twin participants, as with all classes, will be more popular at some tracks as compared to others. However, it is our hope that the Dunlop Tire National Road Racing Series driven by Mazda 2009-season schedule will be welcomed by those that want to participate at tracks of their choice. Which, gives the racer a place to run and helps the race promoters continue to make these facilities available into the future. As it is your support of the events that make them possible!
