World Karting Association & Badger Kart Club To Host Road America SuperNationals

11.11.2008 - Concord, NC --The World Karting Association (WKA), with the support of the Badger Kart Club, will host the Road America SuperNationals, July 10-12, 2009, at Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. This doubleheader event will feature the George Kugler/Bridgestone Manufacturer's Cup Series driven by Mazda and Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series driven by Mazda. Briggs & Stratton Motorsports will also host an event on the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex incorporating the asphalt oval on Saturday night, July 11th.

The Road Racing Series will run on Road America's historic 4-mile, 14-turn road course. WKA plans on expanding its national structure to incorporate local option support classes previously offered by Badger Kart Club. The Manufacturer's Cup event will follow its standard format and compliment of classes on Road America's challenging Briggs & Stratton Motorplex. The sprint track offers over 50 feet of elevation change and multiple configurations resulting in a technically challenging track with some of the best corners in karting.

"We are thrilled with the opportunity to join forces with the Badger Kart Club in an effort to continue a 30+ year tradition of kart racing at the world-class facility. We are also ecstatic with the opportunity to bring the George Kugler Manufacturer's Cup Series to the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex," commented Rick Dresang, WKA President.

"This is a great opportunity for Road America, WKA, and the Badger Kart Club to join forces to help ensure karting remains the foundation of motorsports. We are all very excited to host this event in 2009 and beyond." remarked Mike Kertscher, Road America Programs Manager.

According to Bob Vehring, "The Badger Kart Club is looking forward to the opportunity to work with WKA for a multi-event at Road America. It is our hopes that with the combined efforts of both organizations, this year's event will be the biggest and best karting event of the year." And Dave Klaus of Briggs & Stratton Motorsports added, "Briggs & Stratton is pleased to have this great event at Road America and the Motorplex. We are looking forward to the high-caliber competition these events will bring to the facility."

Exciting happenings are also in the works for the event. Complete event details will be announced as they are finalized.
