Manufactuer's Cup Series Drivers Dodge Flood Waters To Get To The Track

06.18.2008 -- With all the rain and flooding going on in the Midwest, traveling proved to be a tricky challenge, especially getting into the track itself.

Despite all the detours caused by the flooding, the George Kugler / Bridgestone Manufacturer's Cup Series driven by Mazda competitors found several ways to get into the track. They turned out in record numbers for the Racersites.com Grand Nationals. The nationals were held on June 13 -- 15, 2008 at Badger Raceway in Dousman, WI.

As if getting to the track wasn't a feat in itself, the competitors were ready to put on a great show with a weekend full of on-track excitement. Jason Foley was the one to beat as he walked away with three victories and two poles in the Yamaha Lite and Heavy classes and the Yamaha Sr Sportsman Heavy class. Tommy Anderson and Christopher Larson each grabbed a pair of trophies. Anderson taking both the HPV Jr Lite and Heavy classes, while Larson won the TaG Final 1 and Yamaha Sr Sportsman Lite classes.

Next up for the Manufacturer's Cup are the Show Hauler Truck Nationals on July 25 -- 27, 2008. The event will be held at the Concept Haulers Motor Speedway in Sheridan, Ill.

No More Playing In The Rain For The Road Racers

06.18.2008 -- It looks like it was finally a dry weekend, at least during the day, for the Dunlop Tire National Road Racing Series driven by Mazda drivers on June 13 -- 15, 2008.

Rainstorms had plagued the last two events; and with the Midwest being dumped on by flooding over the past month, it was a wonder as to if the weekend would be rain soaked again. But all was well and all the classes got their shot at racing. The series held their fourth event of the season, the Elite Karting Grand Nationals, at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH.

Despite the struggles of the cost of traveling this summer, there was a great turnout and the entries still topped 525. Courtney Atkinson was on top of her game as she swept the four 2-cycle junior classes. There were four other multiple winners who took home two Grand National trophies each; Brian Fisher, Jeff Langford, Matt Michel and Mike Stoik.

The next event scheduled for the Road Racing drivers is on August 1 -- 3, 2008 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH.
