23-Year Old Peter Petropoulos Signs with Trackside Marketing Group
Atlanta, GA (November 7, 2001) - Peter Petropoulos has signed a formal agreement with Trackside Marketing Group, LLC. Trackside Marketing Group (TMG) will handle all of the public relations for Peter's racing efforts, while focusing on assisting him in finding quality teams to join up with for the 2002 season.
Petropoulos, a 23-year-old from the Atlanta, Georgia area, is a two-time World Karting Association (WKA) National Points Champion. He ran a limited schedule in the Pro Late Model division at Lanier National Speedway in 2001. In 2000, he won the Grand National Championship in the WKA Pavement Series at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Peter also finished 2nd in the WKA Speedway Pavement Series championship standings in 1999 in a Tecumseh Stock, while accomplishing the same feat in the 4-Cycle Open category as well.
Stan Narrison, General Manager of Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Georgia, held nothing but the highest regard for the young driver. "It is tough moving into a late model car for the first time at Lanier. This is one of the top short tracks in the country and the competition is fierce. Peter is a heads-up driver and gained some valuable time in a stock car this year. He learned when he should race hard and he stayed out of trouble. Peter was always very professional and very cooperative with everyone," said Narrison.
Off the track, Peter is a representative of Race Against Drugs (RAD) and he takes his duty as a representative of the organization very seriously. Race Against Drugs is a national organization made up of members of the racing community who volunteer their time to help educate America's youth about the dangers of drug abuse. Other racing notables who lend their name and time to the organization are Winston Cup Series drivers Ricky Rudd and Jeremy Mayfield.
Scott Steger, Deputy Director of Race Against Drugs, has worked with Peter for the past few years and feels he is an outstanding role model for young people. "Peter has consistently shown himself to be a role model of the highest caliber. He has represented our program at schools, race tracks, and other public appearances. His relationship with his family has also been an asset, showing young people what is truly important. Peter would make a terrific representative for anyone," Steger said.
"Young people are always looking at what other people are doing. I'm glad I can tell them I'm drug and alcohol free and set an example for them. If I can help one person stay clear of drugs and alcohol, then I've accomplished a major goal," said Petropoulos.
Peter and TMG are already working on some possibilities for the upcoming 2002 season. A full season in ASA or USAR Hooters Pro Cup, with 2-3 races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series are being considered at this time.
