"Allmendinger and NASCAR to be present at PRI"
Phoenix, AZ - November 28, 2009 -- The Performance Racing Industry show along with Championship Karting International are pleased to announce the MRP Birel America driver lineup for the fourth annual PRI/CKI Karting All-Star Classic. Competing with MRP Birel America will be NASCAR star and former karter AJ Allmendinger as well as a current front running kart racer from their newest dealer, Wes Phillips of Andersen Racing.
Allmendinger started his karting career at a very young age and immediately progressed through the ranks. Claiming multiple race wins and championships along the way, the California native was one of the best young karters that North America had to offer. In 2002, Allmendinger claimed the Barber Dodge Pro Series Championship before claiming the Champ Car Atlantic title the following season. Just like karting, Allmendinger was on the fast track to success and in '04, moved to the Champ Car World Series where he won Rookie of the Year honors.
Moving from RuSport to Forsythe Racing, Allmendinger finally made it to the top of the podium in Champ Car by claiming the first three race wins with his new squad. The talented start went on to win two more races that season before making the switch to NASCAR.
Returning to the PRI/CKI Karting All-Star Classic for yet another year, the Richard Petty Motorsports Dodge driver will get back to his roots of karting and look to take the win at the annual event.
"We are delighted to be back with AJ for this year's event," said MRP Motorsport President, Garry Lobaugh. "PRI is proving to be a very important portion of our annual marketing budget as we kick off the new season. The added promotion of the karting event as well as the opportunity to showcase our various business models to interested parties is very important to us."
"MRP and AJ Allmendinger are returning to the PRI show for yet another year," expressed Kevin Williams, the Director of Operations for CKI. "AJ has been a front runner in most PRI events so far, and I am sure he will be back there again. I'd like to personally welcome Andersen Racing alongside of MRP Birel America. MRP and Birel are fully leveraging the PRI initiative to showcase both their racing and rental product, and last year they held a dealer meeting in conjunction with the event."
Joining Allmendinger will be Andersen Racing's Wes Phillips. The long-time Birel driver will do battle in his second PRI event as he looks to take one of the transfer spots to the main event. As one of the fastest drivers last year, Phillips, who has competed in multiple Rotax World Finals and has several years of experience, will look to put the knowledge gained and driving skills to work around the tight and twisty circuit.
MRP Motorsport is the sole importer for the Birel and Freeline product line into North America and runs one of the most successful dealer networks within the karting industry. Along with those product lines, MRP is a US Rotax distributor as well as operates two racing facilities in the Midwest. In addition, MRP Motorsport, through their KartingBiz.com venture, offers consulting on the development of corporate entertainment and kart track start-up operations, helping a growing number of investors to build a strong karting business model.
Located in Southern Florida, Andersen Racing is MRP Birel America's newest dealer of the Birel and Freeline product line. By offering a national level racing program, Andersen Racing competes in the Florida Winter Tour, World Karting Association, Championship Karting International, Florida Karting Championship Series and Rotax Max Challenge events.
