Saint-Eustache, Quebec, July 27, 2004 -- As he will be traveling to North Carolina for the third round of Stars of Karting American Series, Kevin Lacroix will be honoured by the Friends of Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières during a dinner before the famous Trois-Rivières racing weekend. This honour, a racing scholarship, will allow him to enter a racing school and participate in the Grand Prix next year. At 15 years of age, Kevin will be the second youngest to race on the legendary street circuit in open wheelers, the youngest being the late Greg Moore in 1991.

"I'm very happy to receive this honour from the Friends of Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, says Kevin. It's true that my team and I will be considering moving up to open wheel class in the near future, but it's such an honour to receive a grant to make it happen. But I have to focus on my next Stars race in North Carolina. That's what I must keep my mind on, since I want to win that championship, this year, or at least make the podium in every race. As for the open wheeler, I'll think about it again when this season is over."

Looking for a win

Kevin Lacroix hopes to win for the first time this season in the Stars of Karting Series. "There are some very fast professional drivers that are giving me a hard time, Lacroix goes on to say. They also have first-rate equipment. But it's the kind of challenge that drives me to perform better. I'm leaving with the idea of stepping on the podium, but I don't just follow the leader. I try to pass by all means. It's also a good way to find the best settings for the kart."

Supporting team

The next round in the Stars of Karting series is taking place this week-end in Concord, North Carolina, at the Lowe's Motor Speedway. Kevin's finale will take place on Sunday, around 4 P.M. Official driver for PSL Karting, a North-American top-rated team, Kevin Lacroix runs in the 2004 Stars of Karting International series, the Italian Open Master Championship and the Coupe du Quebec Championship. SKF MotorSports, Raybestos, Tenneco, Pennzoil, Auto Parts Plus, Reseau Uni-Select and Pièces d'Auto Lacroix, CRG chassis, Maxter Motors, Alpine Star sportswear and Vega Tires are his suppliers and help him participate in these series. Kevin can be seen on the Internet at www.kevinlacroix.com.
