Hesperia, CA (December 14, 2008) -- Joel Miller wins the Stars of Karting All Star's karters division final at the PRI Convention this past Thursday evening aboard his familiar Tony Kart/Vortex ROK TT package. Having just returned to karting after a full season in the Star Mazda Championship, Miller was the fastest qualifier over a 30 kart field.
By acquiring the pole position Joel was awarded a $500 prize in which he will be passing onto the Racing for Kids charity program which he supported this season in the Star Mazda presented by Goodyear Championship.
During the pre-final he bided his time to secure a good starting spot for the feature race. For the 40 lap main event, Miller started 3rd and fell in line at the start. "Tire management is important in that type of race," he said. "My goal was to not over drive the tire at the beginning so come the end I could give everything I had," commented Miller. He did just that by winning by +3 seconds on a 17 second track.
"I have to thank Tony Kart and the Vortex package for giving me another win. The people at Tony Kart West such as Cliff Kujala, Buddy Rice, and my mechanic Marc were again a great team to work with. I enjoy coming back and competing in karts, especially with the high level of talent at this event.
The Stars of Karting staff did a great job which presented karting to the public in a fantastic way," stated Miller.
Joel is continuing the necessary processes for sorting his 2009 plans out.
