January 18, 2004 AUSTIN, TX February 11-13, Iron Rock Raceway will host the track's first major karting race, the World Karting Association's (WKA) Winter Cup. The Winter Cup will be the kickoff race for the Southwest Regional Cup Series.

The one-off race is the WKA/STARS winter regional competition and will consist of two race days with awards for the highest accumulated points to be presented on Sunday. There will be an optional all-day Friday practice session for all signed entrants at no cost. Saturday will begin with warm-up and practice sessions, followed by qualifying, a pre-final and closing with the First Main Event. Sunday will follow the same format as Saturday and close with the Second Main Event.

The 2005 Southwest Regional Cup Series will begin March 4-5 at Oklahoma Motorsports Complex (OMC) in Norman, Oklahoma. It will include six two-race weekends: two races will be run at the North Texas Kartway's Denton, Texas facility, two at Iron Rock Raceway in Austin, Texas, and two at OMC. The SWRC and the Winter Cup will run 17 classes, including the recently added Stock 125.

Charlie Swayne, General Manager for Iron Rock Raceway, anticipates record attendance and encouraged online registration. "This is going to be an exceptional series," he said, "and we're getting calls every day about the details. We strongly advise entrants to avoid the lines by registering online at www.swregionalcup.com."

The World Karting Association is a membership-owned, non-profit corporation that regulates and promotes the sport of competitive kart racing. WKA rules and procedures set the standards by which tracks are sanctioned and conduct annual championships. For information, visit www.worldkarting.com.

Located at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, Texas, Iron Rock Raceway is one of the nation's first country clubs devoted primarily to kart racing. The .75-mile sprint track is open Monday-Sunday from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
