Focus Midget Teams Band Together to Reward Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series Drivers
Seattle, WA -- (March 14, 2007) : Some of the top teams in the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series have teamed up to reward up to 21 top drivers from the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series in a program that will see race winners from the elite ICC (shifter) and ICA (direct drive) categories win free tests in the open-wheel machines. For the 2007 season, the first 21 unique race winners in (no drivers will win multiple tests) will receive vouchers for a free 100-lap test in a Ford Focus Midget race car.
The teams that will be providing the tests are: Maier Enterprises, Beast Racing, Western Speed Racing, RPDE, Wally Pankratz Racing, Cory Kruseman Racing, and the Ron Sutton Winner's Circle.
The program is made possible through the strong support from K&N Filters, Ford Racing and the USAC Ford Focus Midget Racing Series. "This program will help build awareness of the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series as a viable next steps for people competing in Karting," said Scott Denby, special projects manager, Ford Racing. "We see Midget racing as a complimentary form of racing that will build these driver's skills and racing resumes."
Series Marketing Director Jeff Swoboda sees the program as another substantial prize package in the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series reward program, "This is a program that began as an idea just a few months ago, and has mushroomed into something much bigger in a relatively short amount of time. We have to thank all of the participating teams, as well as the people with the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series for bringing this all together. I think the number of kids we're going to put in race cars during this program will be the highest we ever have in one program."
Drivers earning the tests will be responsible for travel costs and crash damage.
The USAC Focus Midget Series features cars with 178 horsepower spec Ford engines, and traditional tube frame midget race cars. The series runs on both dirt and pavement venues at tracks across the United States. Recent Snap-on Stars of Karting Series drivers to compete in the series include Joel Miller, Zach Schiff, Levi Roberts, and Laura Hayes.
