Alex Tagliani to Race for Sodi Kart USA at the All-Stars Karting Classic
Seattle , WA -- (November 30, 2006): Canadian Alex Tagliani is the latest in a line of open-wheel superstars to commit to the All-Stars Karting Classic event where he will race for the Sodi Racing USA squad.
Sodi Racing Team Manager Terry Lawrence first approached Tagliani this summer about racing for Sodi Kart in the event and the French-Canadian was excited to return to his karting roots, "I was really happy to be invited to drive in the event by the Sodi Kart team. I've been racing karts since I was ten years old, and to me karting is really the essence of the sport. When you have a passion for motorsports as a kid, and you're watching racing on TV all the time the first thing you get to do to go try your hand is to go and drive a kart. I'm really excited for the event." said Tagliani, who just completed his seventh season in the ChampCar World Series. He will be teamed on the Sodi Kart squad with Stars of Karting ICA rookie sensation James Kennedy and a third pilot to be named soon. Terry Lawrence is very excited about the All-Stars Karting Classic lineup he is building, "I've been talking to Alex about racing for us at this event since August, and to get him added to our team is big. He and his father (Raymond, of SRA Karting Engines) have such a strong karting heritage that he was a natural fit for the event."
Tagliani joins racing stars Marco Andretti (IRL), Bryan Herta (IRL), Buddy Rice (IRL) Tomas Scheckter (IRL), Ron Capps (NHRA), Doug Herbert (NHRA), Memo Gidley (Grand-Am), Wayne Taylor (Grand-Am), and Larry Dixon (NHRA) as competitors in the event. The race will be organized by the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL and filmed for two separate one-hour broadcasts on the Versus Network (OLN) with Snap-on advertising support. The featured teams at the event will be the SSC East, First Kart North America, Trackmagic, Tony Kart USA, Sodi Racing USA, Grand Products-Top Kart, and BTK-Arrow teams from the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL. The racers will utilize karts with the popular 125-cc electric start spec engines that have proliferated the marketplace in recent years. Series title sponsor Snap-on Tools has also stepped up to support the event on multiple levels as have Douglas Wheels and Alpinestars.
Racing action will start at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 14 on a temporary track constructed adjacent to the Convention Center. Show attendees will be able to progress straight from the PRI Trade Show's Happy Hour directly out to the racing action. Admission will be free to anyone with a PRI Trade Show badge.
