PSL KARTING PREPARES FOR STARS OF KARTING SEASON
Canadian team looking to continue strong start for 2008 season
OCALA, FL (April 3, 2008) -- The PSL Karting team is now on the road bound for the first round of the 2008 Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by IndyCar Series. Following a successful opening three months of the year competing in the Florida Winter Tour, the Canadian CRG importer is set to battle for the national championships. The first Eastern Division round is set for the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Central Florida over the April 4-6 weekend and seven drivers will take to the track to represent PSL Karting.
Newly-crowned Florida Winter Tour Pro Shifter champion Fritz Leesmann will lead the Intercontinental C (ICC) squad on the weekend. The Californian scored four victories in the six-race championship, including a sweep of the finale weekend held at the Ocala facility. Leesmann - the runner-up in the Stars ICC standings in 2007 - will again look to compete for the national title in the headline class.
Canadian Tom Cadieux and Florida pilot Corey Rossmann will campaign the series full-time with PSL Karting this summer. Cadieux ran part-time in '07, recording a top finish of fourth at USAIR facility, while Rossmann will make his Stars debut in Ocala with the Canadian squad. Joining them will be new recruit Josh Schreiber. The Pennsylvania native signed to compete with PSL within the last few weeks, getting behind the wheel of a new CRG this weekend. The former SKI Rising Star Award winner is a consistent front runner who will add to the depth of the PSL ICC lineup.
Quebec's Chris Ernst will fly the PSL Karting colors in the newly-developed Stars TaG class. The 16-year old will also be making his Stars of Karting debut after moving up to the senior division over the winter. In Junior Intercontinental A (JICA), Jesus Rios Jr. and Tommy Beshro will battle in the competitive category. Rios and Beshro competed this winter in the Florida Winter Tour Rotax Junior class for PSL, finishing 10th and 13th in the standings, respectively.
"I'm really excited to get the Stars season underway," stated Team Director Stephan St. Charles. "Our drivers and staff had a great winter season to prepare for the upcoming national schedule and I feel confident our results will be successful."
