The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series is pleased to announce that Alex Tagliani will compete with MRP Motorsport / Birel dealer Turn 1 ProSports in the Masters division at the 2008 Performance Racing Industry (PRI) All-Stars Karting Classic. Taking place on December 11th adjacent to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, Tagliani will join karting pilots Wes Phillips and Jennifer Williams in the prestigious event.

"Turn 1 ProSports is a new team to enter the All-Stars Karting Classic," stated Stars of Karting Jeff Swoboda. "Working in conjunction with MRP Motorsport / Birel, Turn 1 will field three entries in the event as they look to make a name for themselves within the world of motorsports. To have a class act talented driver like Alex Tagliani promoting them and their product line, Turn 1 ProSports will likely be seen at the front of the pack."

2008 was a year of change for the Canadian driver as he made the transition from the Champ Car World Series to secure a full-time ride in the IndyCar Series. Throughout the season, Tagliani drove whatever he could as he ventured into the world of Stock Car racing as he competed in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series north of the border.

Tag's IndyCar chance came at the Detroit Grand Prix as he filled in for an injured driver and continued to finish out the final three races of the season. Traveling across the world to Surfers Paradise, Tagliani scored a solid fourth place result in the final IndyCar Series race of 2008 and shortly thereafter, became a full-time driver for Conquest Racing

"Having Alex Tagliani driving a Rotax powered Birel for us in one of the season's most anticipated events is incredibly exciting not only for us but for all of our partners," stated Turn 1 ProSports. "This was truly a group effort from the likes of Valhalla Racing/360 Device, GoPro Cameras and TrackSideOnline.com to quickly assemble a front running program worthy of a driver such as Alex. We are looking forward to seeing Alex compete for the win!"

"I'm really excited about this opportunity to compete in the PRI All-Stars Karting Classic for the MRP team, especially with a Birel chassis," explained Alex Tagliani "I've had a long relationship with Birel, as my two-engine kart, that I did an exhibition with in the past, is a Birel, it's a monster and I love driving it! Karting has a special place in my heart and I never miss out on an opportunity to get behind the wheel. It's a great way to stay in good driving form during the off-season. I'm also looking forward to catching up with the MRP team again."

In addition to Tagliani, Wes Phillips will compete in the karter division, thanks to an effort between Birel dealer, Turn 1 Prosports, MAZDA and MRP Motorsport. Phillips will utilize the Birel/Rotax package, which he has become very familiar with in the past few seasons. The driver will return from representing Team USA presented by MAZDA for the Rotax Max Challenge World Finals at the La Conca International Circuit at the beginning of December in time to do battle with the rest of North America's finest karting stars.

Also competing with Turn 1 ProSports will be female karter Jennifer Williams. Williams is one of the top National caliber pilots to have developed their talents on the world renowned Wilson Circuit at BeaveRun MotorSports Complex, home of Turn1 ProSports.

Turn1 ProSports also went on to say "We are thrilled to be a part of the PRI All-Stars Karting Classic in conjunction with MRP Motorsport / Birel. Their unwavering support from the start has been the key to our tremendous growth this year and is the primary reason we are able to enjoy opportunities such as competing with a trio of drivers the caliber of Jen Williams, Wes Phillips and Alex Tagliani. We are fortunate to have some of kart racing's staunchest supporters participating with us as well such as MAZDA, Valhalla Racing/360 Device, GoPro Cameras, TrackSide Online and BeaveRun MotorSports Complex."

Alex Tagliani will join Ed Carpenter, Will Power, Marco Andretti, Antron Brown, AJ Allmendinger, Max Papis, Cristiano Da Matta, Oswaldo Negri, Buddy Rice, Scott Speed, Townsend Bell, Jamie McMurray, Nelson Phillipe, Jan Heylan and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the Masters division. A series of further driver announcements are forthcoming for this prestigious event.
