SNAP-ON STARS OF KARTING PRESENTED BY INDYCAR SERIES AND BRIDGESTONE HAVE TEAMED UP FOR ROCK ISLAND GRAND PRIX AWARD

"$4000 Prize Award for Intercontinental C Winner"

Seattle, WA -- The Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series and Bridgestone have teamed up to award the winner of the Intercontinental C (ICC) class a $4000 prize at this year's Rock Island Grand Prix. With some of the nations top drivers vying for the victory, competition is sure to be tough and exciting at the nation's largest street race.

Held in the confines of the Quad Cities on the Mississippi River, the annual event draws 400+ entries per year and has hosted racers from Argentina, Bermuda, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, England, France, Italy, Mexico and the United States. With the announcement of the new prize for the shifter class, series officials are expecting to reach the ICC class cap.

"The Rock Island Grand Prix is one of the special events in North American karting," explained Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series President Paul Zalud. "We're glad to be able to partner with our friends at Bridgestone to boost the prize payout for our competitors that will be taking part in this great event."

"One of the successes of the Rock Island Grand Prix over the years has been its ability to work constructively with sanctioning bodies, manufacturers and importers to provide a program that is really beneficial to the racers," said Rock Island Grand Prix's Roger Ruthhart. "This announcement is just another example of how competitors at Rock Island can benefit from that. Coupled with earlier purse enhancements by Briggs & Stratton and SuperKarts! USA, it brings the total payout to races at Rock Island to more than $32,000, plus other prizes and contingencies, making it among the largest payouts in the sport. On behalf of our competitors we would like to thank Bridgestone, Grand Products and Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series for this great support."

"We wanted to step up for the racers that have been so loyal to our Bridgestone product and we saw the Rock Island Grand Prix as a way to work with our partners at the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series to give something back to the racers and be a significant part of this great event," expressed Bridgestone USA's Kevin Hunley.

The Rock Island Grand Prix's ICC class will run under the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series rules. Additionally, the ICC class will utilize the ever reliable Bridgestone YJB as their spec tire. In the unfortunate event of rain, the Bridgestone YJP rain tire must be used.

With this exciting announcement from the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series and Bridgestone, more announcements and prizes for all classes running at this years Rock Island Grand Prix will be announced by Bridgestone in the very near future.
