Stars Of Karting Updates Medium Tire Compound Introduction

Seattle, WA - Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by IndyCar announced the tire compound changeover for the CIK medium compound in ICC and further information regarding the rain compound.

The introduction into Stars competitions of the new Bridgestone YKB compound in the Intercontinental C category will occur at the second divisional events, East and West. Widespread distribution of the 2008 medium compound will begin immediately after the upcoming Race of the Americas at New Castle Motorsports Park, IN on May 29 to June 1.

Stars of Karting has planned a careful transition and working in conjunction with Bridgestone USA and tire supplier, Grand Products will provide for a equitable distribution with ample testing time prior to the next series events. The change from one compound to a new one requires balancing of global logistics and national inventory levels with fair and timely distribution.

"Bridgestone tire products have been a staple of Stars competitions for years and a strong relationship is based on consistent and reliable supply," said Paul Zalud, Stars president, "The professional handling of challenges like this exemplifies that relationship."

In addition to the YKB introduction, Stars announced continued acceptance of the older YJP rain compound through the divisional events. At the national final event, only the current Bridgestone YKP compound will be accepted. Competitors are advised to deplete their supplies of J compound tires in preparation.

"Bridgestone USA and Grand Products thanks and commends Stars of Karting for their handling of the compound transitions this year," commented Mike Tetreault of Grand Products, "Changing over is always a challenge and we appreciate the forethought and flexibility."
