Flying Swede aiming for Stars of Karting opener

Martin Mohlin, driver for JC Karting and Kart Mini USA was looking to be a serious contender in the Florida Winter Tour participating in both Rotax Junior and JICA but unfortunately he didn't make it farther than Homestead on Sunday.

The weekend didn't start well to begin with. A cracked rib made it difficult for Martin to find his rhythm and focus on driving but he was still able to work himself into the top six in both finals on Saturday before being involved in contact. Sunday, again seemed promising, starting 5th in JICA and 9th in Rotax but again contact was an issue. This time though, it wasn't forgiving, having Martin literally flying over his competitors in turn two in the first lap of the JICA final. Martin was able to walk away but seriously damaged his middle finger on his right hand. After 1 ½ hours of reconstructive surgery the doctors gave Martin 2-3 months before being able to drive again. Not happy with the doctors time frame Martin has been staying in shape and focusing to be ready for the Stars opener in Oklahoma. Since then the specialists have given a quicker recovery time, seeing that the healing has been going well and the weekend March 18-19 looks to be more like reality.
