"Drivers look to starts West coast title chase with victories"
Brownsburg, IN. -- July 4, 2007 -- First Kart North America and First Kart USA along with the Firstkart.com race team are prepared and set to ahead across the country to attend the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series event in Tooele, Utah. FirstKart.com drivers will look to continue the success and strong runs at Miller Motorsports Park in the hunt for the overall national championship.
Competing under the FirstKart.com Race Team tent will be:
Brendan Langlois -- JICA - First/Woltjer Parilla
Spencer Pigot -- JICA -- First/Woltjer Parilla
Phil De La O -- JICA -- First/Woltjer Parilla
James Michael Sullivan -- Cadet -- First/Pitts
Zach Beard -- Spec Racer -- First/Adkins Parilla
Andy Lee -- Spec Racer -- First/Adkins Parilla
Paul Montopoli -- Spec Racer -- First/KartKey Parilla
Cody Tracy -- Spec Racer -- First/Reaction Parilla
Absent from the FirstKart.com driver lineup is Intercontinental C (ICC) front runner Alan Rudolph. The Arizona pilot had prior racing obligations that will force him to miss the Utah event but he will be back behind the wheel of his SRA TM powered First Kart in the coming weeks.
Current JICA East division point leader Brendan Langlois enters Utah looking to continue the success that he has found in the past three months. Langlois finished the Florida Winter Tour with a victory and has scored four podiums in the first four events in the national championship as he looks to take the title in his final year of junior competition. Joining Langlois in the Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) class are rookie pilots Spencer Pigot and Phil De La O. Pigot claimed his first JICA victory back in January at the opening round of the Florida Winter Tour and has shown the speed to compete at the national level. The talented Floridian claimed the pole position at New Castle Motorsports Park in late May and held the fastest lap of the race for most of the event. Arizona pilot Phil De La O continues to improve after only two weekends of national level action. De La O is on the brink of cracking into the top ten and in Oklahoma, claimed the third quickest lap time in final number one. Pigot and De La O currently sit 7th and 16th in the East division standings and will look to improve on those positions in the West.
Second year Cadet pilot James Michael Sullivan will be back behind the wheel of a First Kart and will make a run at the West coast title and National Championship. The Colorado resident scored strong results throughout 2006 but '07 has proved to be a challenge for the young pilot. Sullivan will look to change his luck as he enters into the heart of the racing season.
Three drivers will enter the Spec Racer class in Utah as Zach Beard, Andy Lee and Paul Montopoli will look to fight for the victory. Beard currently sits third in the East coast title chase while Lee is just outside the top ten. Both drivers are serious threats for the national championship and will look to work together to be at the front of the field when the checkered flag falls. New Jersey resident Paul Montopoli will make the trek westward in a one off race that will see him battle with some of the nations best.
Joint the FirstKart.com operation in Utah will be Reaction Karting's Cody Tracy. Tracy is a regular at Miller Motorsports Park and he will look to work with Reaction's Brandon Anderson to find the winning ways in his first Stars of Karting experience.
