FIRSTKART.COM CLAIMS THREE VICTORIES AT WKA MANUFACTURER'S CUP
"Larson and Monteith stand atop the podium"
Brownsburg, Indiana -- June 17, 2008 -- FirstKart.com race team members Chris Larson and Kevin Monteith had a successful event this past weekend at the third round of the World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup Grand Nationals held at Badger Raceway in Dousman, WI. Larson took home the Grand National Eagle in TaG and Yamaha Senior Sportsman Lite while Monteith was victorious in Yamaha Junior SuperCan Heavy.
After a very successful Friday test session, Monteith would enter his Yellow Fin powered First Kart in four classes while Floridian Chris Larson would compete in six over the two event days.
Saturday was a good day for Canadian Monteith as the talented junior claimed two top ten results including his first career World Karting Association (WKA) victory in the Yamaha Junior SuperCan Heavy class. With rain falling, Monteith looked like a season veteran as he drove away from the field to claim the checkers. The 15-year-old also managed to add a sixth place result in HPV Junior Lite.
Sunday would prove to be a little more difficult for Monteith as his best result on the day would be eighth in HPV Junior Heavy after qualifying outside the top twenty. In Yamaha Junior SuperCan Lite Monteith looked as if he was one of the drivers to beat as he led a handful of laps in the final while battling with the lead trio. Contact while passing for the lead with three laps remaining sent Monteith spinning off the track and to a disappointing ninth place finish.
Over the two day weekend, Florida pilot Chris Larson would score six top ten results including two dominant victories in the rain. Saturday, Larson would score his first top five of the weekend as he came home fifth in the Yamaha Heavy division but the rest of the day would go his way as he claimed victories in both TaG and in Yamaha Senior Sportsman Lite. With the victory in TaG, Larson extends his point lead in the chase for the championship.
On Sunday, Larson would drive his First Kart to three more top ten results including a ninth place finish in Yamaha Lite, a sixth place result in Yamaha Senior Sportsman Heavy and a fifth in TaG.
