TWO WEEKENDS AND FOUR VICTORIES FOR FIRSTKART.COM
"WKA and FWT provide the scene for great team results"
Brownsburg, Indiana -- March 10, 2008 -- First Kart North America, First Kart USA along with the FirstKart.com race team headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the second round of the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturers Cup event. Scoring strong victories were Floridian pilots Spencer Pigot and Chris Larson
Competing in six different classes, Larson scored a solid second place finish in Saturday's TaG final and bettered his result to take home the checkers on Sunday. Racing with badly bruised ribs, Larson took advantage of an opening lap gap and raced conservatively until the end to score the victory and take over the points lead in the chase for the championship.
Looking to keep the results rolling, Larson scored a third place result in Yamaha Lite, fourth in Yamaha Senior Sportsman Lite, sixth in Yamaha Heavy and ninth is Yamaha Senior Sportsman Heavy.
Junior standout Spencer Pigot scored two dominating victories in Yamaha Junior Supercan Lite and Heavy. In Saturday's action, Pigot started the final from the pole position but a first corner incident sent him through the grass and back to just inside the top ten. From here, Pigot put his head down and progressed forward picking off kart after kart. Circulating the circuit faster then any other kart, Pigot took the lead and the checkers for his first WKA win of the year. In Sundays feature event, Pigot continued with his Supercan dominance as he took the lead and stretched to more then a three second gap to again take the checkers.
Pigot also competed in the HPV Junior Lite and HPV Junior Heavy class where he scored 11th and fourth place results respectively.
In their three week road trip, the FirstKart.com race team traveled to the Ocala Gran Prix facility for the final round of Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour where they scored another victory with DD2 pilot Fidencio Guzman.
Guzman started the final inside row two and stalked the leaders for the majority of the event before moving into the lead as he passed the World Champion. Guzman pulled away on the final two circuits and managed to take the checkers scoring his first victory in the final weekend of the series. Looking to continue his success on Sunday, Guzman had a scary full throttle accident in the pre-final that would force him to start the main event from the tail of the field. Moving forward through out the event, Guzman crossed the strip in the sixth position. Joining Guzman in the DD2 class was Stefan Yasin who came home ninth and tenth
FirstKart.com Junior pilot Kevin Monteith was on a tear all weekend long as he went wheel to wheel with some of the countries best. Monteith was able to garner a strong third place finish in Saturdays racing action and backed that up with another top five on Sunday.
Australian Kris Wall made his North American debut aboard a First Kart as he traveled outside Australia for the first time. Wall found the North American racing action very fierce and aggressive as he claimed a 17th place result in Saturday's action. Looking to improve on Sunday, Wall received a driving infraction and was relegated to run in the B main where he claimed the victory.
Rotax Masters standout Paul Montopoli finished second in Final one as he trailed only professional racecar pilot Max Papis. In final two, Montopoli had to come from the tail of the field but managed to finish ninth and claimed the third position in the overall point's standings
