Guelph, ON. -- January 13, 2005 -- FirstKart.com has put together another stellar team for the first round of the Florida Winter Tour this coming weekend at the Homestead/Miami Speedway in Homestead, FL. With drivers competing in the Pro Shifter, Rotax Junior, Rotax Senior, Expert Shifter, TaG Heavy, Masters, Intercontinental A (ICA) and Junior ICA (JICA) categories, First Kart will be looking to garner victories in almost every series class.

Canadian Daniel Morad will be back in the Pro Shifter division as he will look to defend his 2005 series title. Joining Morad will be Stars of Karting regular Nick Maddison and Ontario's Josh Adams. The trio of shifter drivers will look to do battle at the front of the Pro Shifter field.

Current Stars of Karting West JICA champion and FirstKart.com's newest team member, Brett Smrz, will pull double duty throughout the three weekend series as he will compete in both the JICA and Rotax Junior classes. Smrz will use the three weekends to prepare for the upcoming Stars of Karting series where he will look to garner the overall national championship. Joining Smrz in Rotax Junior will be Ontario front runner Kevin Montieth. Montieth has won several club championships over the past couple of years and has run at the front of the regional series. Montieth will use the FWT to get back in shape for the '06 season.

Sharon, Ontario's Eric Gerrits will be back for his third consecutive Florida Winter Tour and will look to improve on last years second place series result. Gerrits, who was '05's Canadian National Champion and represented Canada at the World Finals in Malaysia, will be a threat for victory at every event.

Texan, Jim Moriarty will be back in action as he will contest in two of the three series events. Moriarty will contend and do battle in the Masters Shifter class and will look to score some podium results.

Racing couple Jaime Zuleta and Anny Cardona will utilize FirstKart.com's arrive and drive program to do battle in the Expert Shifter class. This will be Jamie's second event on the First Kart chassis as in his debut was able to score the SuperKarts USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals Masters (G1) championship.

Floridian Chris Friel will begin his sophomore year in ICA running with the Ocala Gran Prix squad. Friel will be another one of the FirstKart.com drivers pulling double duty as he will also compete in the Pro Shifter under the watchful eye of Bobby Wilson. Also returning to the tour will be Robert Francis in the Expert Shifter class. Francis ran extremely strong throughout the '05 campaign and will look for victory this weekend in Homestead.

Zach Schiff and Matt Pritiko will be absent from this weekend's competition but the duo will be back to contend in the Pro Shifter class later in the series. Look for these two drivers to make an immediate impact and be right at the front of the field.
