BRATT BEATS SHENINGTON LAP RECORD ON WINNING KARTING RETURN

Successful international racing driver Will Bratt made a winning return to the realms of karting at Shenington over the weekend, 20th/21st March -- and in doing so also scorched to a brand new circuit lap record for 250cc Gearbox karts.

Taking time out to stay sharp ahead of his maiden FIA Formula 2 Championship test outing in early April, the Banbury 21-year-old decided to have a run in the 250cc National Gearbox Karting event at his local track and departed Shenington on Sunday afternoon with the series lead!

Racing a Honda-engined Jade chassis, the reigning Party Poker Racing Euroseries 3000 Champion and GP2 Asia Series driver battled hard at the front with championship regulars Stephen Lane and Louis Wall and went on to win the encounter by around two seconds.

"It's always a good idea to stay sharp with a bit of karting and always nice to win, whatever race you're taking part in", said Will, "It was by no means easy this weekend, there was some genuine competition, but I really enjoyed myself and had a great time. In the wet on Saturday during practice we were very quick, to then go on and win and set a new lap record capped a really fun weekend."

Next on the motor-sporting agenda for Will is his maiden test outing at the wheel of the Formula 2 car he will race throughout 2010. This will take place at Snetterton in Norfolk on Tuesday, 6th April.
