Tulsa Shootout This Weekend!

TULSA, Okla. (December 26, 2006) -- This weekend marks the final opportunity for fans to log one more racing extravaganza into the 2006 ledger as the 22nd Annual Tulsa Shootout takes place at the Tulsa Expo Raceway on Friday and Saturday, December 29-30.

Sprint Car standouts Terry McCarl and Danny Lasoski are among the nearly 1,100 expected entries for the annual indoor racing event that features 22 different divisions in Micros, Karts and Quads.

Missouri's Lasoski and Iowa's McCarl will take on a stout field of 600cc Multis that includes two-time and defending Tulsa Shootout Multi champion Rodney Stealy of Lakeville, IN. Last year, Stealy topped a record field of 123 Multis. Currently, there are 117 Multi pre-entries.

Other Micro classes include "A" Class (101 entries), Non-Wing (105 entries), Restricted "A" Class (71 entries) and Junior Sprints (22), establishing a record Tulsa Shootout pre-entry count of 416 for Micros.

A stout field of Karts from throughout the nation is expected as well, with competition throughout 13 different classes. Pro Kart classes include Super Junior II, Stock Light, Medium and Heavy, Animal Medium and Heavy, Blue Wazoom, Yamaha KT 100 and Run What Ya Brung.

Rounding out the Tulsa Shootout card is four classes of Quads, including two pro classes and two amateur classes.

Thus far, a total of 862 from 30 different states from Florida to Washington state and all points in between have been filed for the 22nd Annual Tulsa Shootout, with a couple hundred more expected by race time.

Practice for the Tulsa Shootout takes place on Thursday, December 28, with heat races on Friday, December 29. Semi-features will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, with "A" Mains at 6:00 p.m. that evening.

Pit passes are $20 on both Thursday and Friday, with Saturday's pit passes just $25. The grandstands open for Saturday's main events at 5:00 p.m., with admission $15 for Adults and only $5 for children.
