2007 Season finale set for Goodwood Kartways this weekend
TORONTO, ONTARIO -- The season finale of the 2007 Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels will be run this weekend at Goodwood Kartways. Goodwood is where the season started and by Sunday afternoon, 10 class champions will be crowned.
In Canada Junior Heavy, Kevin Monteith, who has 515 points, has a slim lead over Gary Klutt, who has 510. Jonathon Treadwell is third with 374 points. In Canada Junior Light, Austin Milwain leads with 438 points to Reid Arnold's 404. Artem Korolev is third with 343 points.
In the senior division, Canada Senior, Evan Hayden sits on 414 points, to Aaron de Heus' 380 and Darryl Timmers' 368. Just behind them with a shot to move up with a good weekend is Greg Rempel, who has 353 points.
In F1-K the Cadet leader is Garett Grist with 488 points, but Korolev is close with 465. Kenneth O'Keefe has some work to do to move up -- he sits on 416 points.
In the junior ranks, Vincent Rago has a healthy lead with his 512 points, to Jeff May's 423. David Ostella, last year's champion sits third with 384.
In the senior ranks, Richard Hibbs has a slim lead over Mosport winner Mark Woyslaw. Hibbs has 456 points to Woyslaw's 428. Mike Lennie, who is third, will have to have a good weekend to move up. He has 408 points.
In Formula Senior, Mike Vincec, on 547 points, takes a commanding lead over Curtis Fox into the final race. Fox has 467 points, while Michael Di Meo is third with 371.
Vincec has already clinched the Rotax Max DD2 Shifter class with 547 points. The battle will be for second between Eric Gerrits on 384 points, and Michael Di Meo with 353 and Jason France with 343 points.
Vincec also leads the Rotax Max Senior class with 381 points. Marco Di Leo is second with 337, and Gerrits is third with 320. Stefano Romano is also in the hunt to move up with his 297 points.
In the junior ranks, Ostella, with 492 points, leads Kevin Monteith, who has 472. Jonathon Treadwell is third with 377 points, and he'll be looking to hold off fourth place Joshua Korenyi, who has 325.
The maximum points a driver can score this weekend is 128 points, so there could be some drivers that have a great weekend and move up the points. One thing is for sure, that is everyone will bring their 'a' game to Goodwood for the season finale.
