Another double weekend for G-Phactory
March 5, 2009 (Huntington Beach, Calif.) -- It was yet another busy weekend for the G-Phactory squad, with two events going on not far from their home base in Southern California that their customers would be racing at. Committed to providing the best service possible, the G-Phactory support truck was at both of those races.
The first event was the second round of the ProKart Challenge So Cal, which was competing at the Willow Springs Kart Track. Shawn Cricca and Lloyd Mack would race in TaG Senior, with Craig Cutler competing in S1. Cricca and Mack battled a tough field of TaG Senior karts and drivers -- several of which are based at the Willow Springs track -- to finish in sixth and seventh with Vortex and PRD power on their Sodi Karts.
Cutler, out of the seat for several months, returned to compete in S1 and finished fifth in class and seventh overall aboard a Sodi Kart with DDR TM power. He enjoyed a race-long battle with another kart and decided the outcome with a last-lap pass.
A couple of hours south of Willow Springs, the third and fourth rounds of the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas were taking place at the Calspeed Karting Center in Fontana. New team member Dylan Stalker was competing, and initially struggled against some of the best Rotax pilots in the country. However, he impressed with a strong run in qualifying to put his Sodi Kart eighth on the grid for Sunday's race.
Stalker would fall back to the back of the field in the pre-main after being hit by another kart, and raced back to 13th. In the main, he nearly made up all the ground back to his qualifying effort, and finished the day in ninth place. With deeply talented field, Stalker's top-ten effort was a highlight for the G-Phactory squad.
