G-Phactory ends ProKart South season on top
September 5, 2008 (Huntington Beach, Calif.) -- G-Phactory ventured north to Santa Maria for not only the final weekend in the ProKart South season, but what may turn out to be the final race weekend at the famed Santa Maria Kart Track -- which is due to close at the end of the season.
The team went with three members -- Adam and Andrick Zeen, running their Sodi Karts with power from DLD Vortex Rok TT's, and Bryce Miller, looking to seal his podium position in the season standings in S4 aboard his Sodi / Darcy Decoste Honda.
In TaG Senior, it would be Andrick Zeen that would put in a particularly impressive weekend after a weekend at the Stars of Karting event in Seattle that saw him show more impressive speed by qualifying seventh. Andrick put his Sodi Kart on pole, while Adam ended up fourth.
Andrick would convert his pole into a sweep of the day's event, and was only headed for one lap during the second heat. Winning both heat races as well as the final, Andrick was clearly the class of the ProKart South's TaG Senior field on this weekend. Adam didn't have quite as smooth sailing, as mechanical issues dogged him during the heat races before he was hit in the final, ultimately coming home in fourth place.
Bryce Miller raised some eyebrows in S4 when he threw down a lap good enough in qualifying to take the S4 pole. Miller has been battling with Billy and Willy Musgrave throughout the season, and it was with these two that he would battle with throughout the day. His kart clearly had the upper hand in the technical chicanes -- but that doesn't lend itself to being able make a pass on Santa Maria's track. Miller would ultimately finish in second place in both heats, before finishing the final in third place.
"I'm very proud of the weekend Andrick had in Santa Maria," said Phil Giebler. "His hard work is paying off and we'll see a lot more of him on top of the podium. I think we have good momentum with the team and with some testing this winter we will have Bryce and all of the boys on the top step of the podium.
"The Sodi Karts were on rails and worked great with the MG tires. I hope to take all the momentum and information learned to the SuperNationals in Las Vegas. I'm confident the G-Phactory / Sodi Racing USA team will have great results there."
