WEEKEND OF VICTORIES FOR CHAMPION RACING AND INTREPID
Intrepid brand wins at ProKart Challenge North and Southwest Regional Cup programs
NORMAN, OKLAHOMA (April 19, 2009) - It was a strong weekend for the Intrepid chassis in the United States as it took home victory in two different states at prestigious events. In Texas, the site was the first weekend of the Southwest Regional Cup (SWRC) at the MSR Houston facility, while in northern California the Infineon Raceway karting circuit was the location of the second round of the ProKart Challenge North series. In total, Intrepid took home five feature wins by five different drivers.
Intrepid importer Champion Racing was in nearby Texas for the SWRC opener with Blake Teeter and Bryce Cornet piloting their TaG Senior and Rotax Senior packages. Cornet was the class of the field in TaG Senior as he swept on-track action while taking the feature victory by over 17 seconds. Teeter competed with a Rotax engine for the first time and matched Cornet's effort as he too dominated qualifying, the prefinal and the final. His margin of victory was seven seconds. Intrepid dealer 3G Racing found success behind former multi-time Rotax national champion Jordon Musser. After running second in the S3 Stock Shifter prefinal, Musser went on to earn the feature win.
On the west coast, Intrepid dealer Leading Edge Motorsports saw two drivers stand on top of the podium for the second round of the PKC North series. Brett Felkins nearly pulled off the class sweep in TaG Senior. After posting the second quickest lap in qualifying, Felkins went on to win both heat races and the feature. LEM did, however, record a class sweep with Jared Woolf behind the wheel of his Intrepid in the S4 Stock Shifter division.
"Intrepid was on top of their game all weekend, says Champion's Rodney Berryhill. "The SWRC is the place to race with some of the top competitors in the nation there and Intrepid came away with three wins in three of the top divisions. With the results being produced in California as well, I'd say it was a great weekend for Intrepid."
A number of top Intrepid drivers from North America will be competing at the Snap-on Stars of Karting national championship this weekend at the Jim Russell International Karting Center at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California for the opening round of the Western Division.
