CENTRAL STATES CHALLENGE SET TO RETURN TO HISTORIC TNT KARTWAYS
Wide range of competitors entered with special Arrive and Drive program highlight round four

ST. LOUIS, MO (June 18, 2009) -- The historic TNT Kartways will be the site for the fourth round of the AMB i.t. Central States Challenge (SCSC) on the June 27-28 weekend. The Superkarts! USA Midwest region will be returning to the West Quincy, MO facility after making a stop during the 2008 campaign. The visit to Quincy is expected to see a high number in attendance with the summer break now in full swing and a number of competitors looking forward to competing at the famed course.

The 4/10-mile circuit is located on the western bank of the Mississippi River. The track is entering its 48th season of karting and has hosted a number of famous names in karting and motorsports in general. Drivers like Scott Pruett, Scott Goodyear, Mark Dismore, and Jamie McMurray along with karting legends Ron Emmick, Lynn Haddock, Terry Traeder and many more. On the other side of the bridge, Quincy, Illinois is famous for the South Park Grand Prix event held in South Park or referred to many as 'The Park'.

One of the alumni from 'The Park' is Margay Racing Products' Keith Freber. The St. Louis, Missouri based company will be providing arrive-and-drive rides for the non-drivers aboard Margay karts powered by Senior Clone, TaG Senior (PRD), TaG Senior Sportsman (PRD small carb), a TaG 60 Cadet and possible a Senior Yamaha SuperCan package. Other series supporters - Car Car Motorsports and PG Racing - will assisting in the arrive-and-drive program as well. In addition to the free rides around the TNT Kartways, Margay will be providing a BBQ for everyone to bench race and reminisce about the old days of karting. Freber will be racing as well, going for his third TaG Masters feature win of the season.

Looking at the point chases as the program enters the second half of the season, Derek Crockett continues to be one of the drivers to beat. Crockett has the championship lead in the S3 and TaG Senior categories. Matt Zeis is giving chase in S3 while Kyle Gnau is looking to keep it close in the TaG Senior division. Gnau however is leading the S1 division with his strong consistent results ahead of round three winner Carly Mandarino. Rick Freund holds strong in the number one slot of the S4 standings with Kyle Donahue a solid second. TaG Masters has a tight battle going between Brit Phillips and Jim Donahue, separated by just 45 points heading to Quincy.

Lukas Johnson has slid into the top spot of the S5 Junior standings with his two straight feature wins. Defending class champion Kaylee Granberg has finished third or better in the first three events and looks to close the gap on Johnson. Mid-State Kart Club event double winner Drake Ostrom leads the TaG Junior division over round one winner Kevin Donahue. TaG 60 should come down to the final event with Kyle Donahue and Zach Bohmer atop the standings, just a 45 point margin for Donahue. The Kid Kart division is even closer with four drivers within 70 points - Grant Greisbach leading ahead of Owen Leatherberry, Jacob Winslow, and Nicholas Cory.

As mentioned before, the Quincy event should draw in extra drivers for the event within the area but is also bringing in drivers from Colorado as GP Kart importer Rocky Mountain Kart Works is planning to bring a group of drivers east to the TNT Kartways for the weekend.

The Central States Challenge will be hosting a meet and greet at the host hotel - Microtel Inn in Quincy, IL on Friday, June 26 for those who attend early with registration taking place from 6pm-9pm.
