Giebler to step back into kart for PKC Nor-Cal season finale

September 11, 2008 (Huntington Beach, Calif.) -- For the first time since last season's PRI All-Star Classic, Phil Giebler will step back into a kart competitively at this weekend's PKC Nor-Cal season finale, held at the Jim Russell International Karting Center at Infineon Raceway, located in Sonoma, Calif.

Giebler will team up with G-Phactory / Sodi Racing USA drivers Adam and Andrick Zeen to compete in the TaG Senior class, all with Sodi Kart chassis powered by DLD-built Vortex Rok TT's. Giebler is in charge of the driver coaching and development for all of the G-Phactory drivers; for this weekend at least, his drivers will be able to see how they measure up against their coach -- who happens to be a former Indy 500 Rookie of the Year.

All three drivers, however, will have a stout field of PKC Nor-Cal regulars to compete against. But with the Stars of Karting season finale just around the corner, and with the SKUSA Supernats on the horizon as well, the PKC Nor-Cal event offers the G-Phactory squad a chance to continue to evaluate and develop their TaG package for those two events.

"I haven't raced a kart since last December, but I have spent a fair bit of time in my kart this year, just staying fit and staying sharp," said Giebler. "Because I spend so much time working with Adam and Andrick, getting into a race with them offers me a chance to gauge their progress and evaluate the feedback that they give me.

"Running three karts instead of two also gives us more data on the MG tires that we will be using on our Sodi Karts at the SKUSA Supernats in November. The more we can learn about the new compound, the better."

Action at the track begins with practice all day Friday on the circuit's backwards National configuration.
