SKUSA ProMoto Tour not attending anticipated Windsor venue.
Dublin, OH - Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) expresses it's deep regret that the 2003 ProMoto Tour will not have a presence in Canada this year as had been planned. While it is presently known that SKUSA will not be returning to the Barrie GP event, the second attempt at securing a proper Canadian venue has fallen through for a variety of reasons.
As a replacement venue, SKUSA had been working closely with the promoters of a similar "waterfront" venue in Windsor, Ontario, Canada since early February. This effort to present the Canadian round of the 2003 ProMoto Tour in Windsor had progressed with enormous excitement and enthusiasm on the parts of both SKUSA and the Windsor promoter until last Monday, March 10, 2003.
"The much anticipated press release announcing the Windsor event was first scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, 2003 but was delayed on a last-minute request of the promoter on Tuesday, March 11," explained SKUSA CEO, Jim Murley. "I received an email letter the morning of Tuesday, March 18 advising me that the promoter was signing an agreement with a different organization the following day."
With all of the effort being focused on the Windsor project, including the CAD-designed track layout, SKUSA was not prepared for an immediate alternative.
"It is clear that we will not be able to support our many loyal Canadian business partners and members this year and I am extremely disappointed over that," said Murley. "This 'good faith' effort was as solid as could be until the 10th of March. I have nothing more to say at this time other than expressing my deep disappointment of what has transpired."
As of the moment, the rescheduled venue will be BeaveRun Motorsports Complex, a brand new motorsports facility located in Wampum, PA.
"BeaveRun is a tremendous facility that we have looked at the possibility of scheduling an event at for a while now," Murley said. "This actually may be a blessing for us to be able to go to such a nice venue. With limited National events to schedule in any given year, we have not had the opportunity before now to place this track on the schedule."
