Vincec prepares to close out winter racing season - Final races in Florida Winter Tour and Skip Barber Series on tap

March 12, 2008 - Stouffville, Ontario - It has been non-stop since November for sixteen-year-old Mike Vincec as the triple-champion in the 2007 Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship would compete in both the Florida Winter Tour and with Sunoco Team Ultra 94 in the Skip Barber Southern Region race series. He would also manage to fit in a trip to Italy to test with the CRG factory team.

In eleven races so far in the Skip Barber series, Mike has amassed five podium finishes including a win during the last race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Sunoco Team Ultra 94 driver has eight top-five results and has not finished outside the top ten (two P6 and one P8). "This has been a great opportunity" commented Mike. "We have learned quite a bit that will help us in the future. We have one more race weekend to go and I hope we can put another podium result in the books."

Mike currently sits second overall in the Southern Region championship. The final races take place Sebring on March 29 & 30.

In the Florida Winter Tour, Mike has been contending his Cameron Motorsports CRG in the Pro Shifter class. He would come away from the first weekend with two podiums (P3 & P2). A schedule conflict meant Mike would arrive just in time for Sunday's pre-final during the next event at Moroso. "Without any chance to practice, we could not work on setup" noted Mike. "It was straight to the pre-final and then work on setup for the final. Unfortunately, we started near the back of the field and were just not able to make up positions."

The final round of the Florida Winter Tour takes place this weekend (March 15-16) at Ocala Grand Prix. Mike, who currently sits ninth overall in the Pro Shifter championship, is looking to make up some ground. "We are going to have plenty of practice time this weekend" Mike said, "and we are hoping to repeat our efforts from the first event and bring home another podium finish for the team."

Recently, Mike paid a visit to the CRG factory in Italy to test with the team and try out some new equipment. "It was great to be there with some of the factory drivers. Trevor (Wickens) and I took in quite a bit of information that will help us through the 2008 season."

As soon as the winter season ends with the final Skip Barber race March 30th at Sebring, Vincec will be off to Ocala, Florida the following weekend, April 5th for the first race in the 2008 Snap-On Stars of Karting presented by Indy Racing League.
