PANAMA CITY, Fla. (Jan. 2) - Formula Kart Productions is proud to announce the continuation of the Skip Barber Racing School awards program. The Skip Barber awards -- a total of four Three Day Competition Courses (retail value of approximately $16,000.00) -- will be awarded to the points champions in each of the FWT KF2, KF3, Rotax Senior and Rotax Junior categories.
Because of the late announcement of these awards, and the introductory status of the KF classes, the FWT points championship for KF2 and KF3 awards will be a best 3 of 4 points championship beginning at the February Moroso rounds. The Rotax awards will be provided based on the normal best 5 of 6 format, including all rounds.
"As always, I'm really excited to have the Skip Barber awards program back," states Formula Kart's Bill Wright. "This partnership has brought both our organizations not only some great racers -- most recently epitomized by FWT award winner Joel Miller, who went on to capture the 2007 BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda championship -- but also good business. The awards help bring top-level drivers to FWT as they look to make their mark in cars, while at the same time, the Florida Winter Tour exposes many future auto racing drivers to Skip Barber's School and its six different race series. That's a winning combination."
"Each year, the Florida Winter Tour gets bigger, better and more prestigious," says Rick Roso, motorsports marketing manager for Skip Barber. "The best karters are gravitating to this championship and we relish being part of the show. It's a great way for the karters and their families to see what the Mazda-driven Skip Barber Ladder System can do for them."
