WKA's Pit Board - 11.29.2010

WKA Trustee Nomination forms will be sent in January

11.29.2010 - Given the pending Harper et al. vs. WKA civil suit, WKA has agreed to defer the trustee elections in Districts 2, 5 and 8 until after the plaintiffs' internal appeal hearings tentatively scheduled for January 14. Pending the outcome of the WKA hearings, Trustee Nomination Forms will be sent to all Master Members in good standing and residing in Districts 2, 5 and 8 as of January 1, 2011.

2-cycle Tech Inspector and Race Official Training at the PRI Show in Orlando

11.29.2010 - There's still time to register for two WKA seminars being held in conjunction with the Performance Racing Industry Show in Orlando. The new Race Official Training seminar will be conducted on the afternoon of Saturday, December 11, and 2-cycle Tech Inspector Training and Certification is being offered on that Saturday morning. Although the PRI show is intended for racing industry personnel, WKA members who show their current WKA membership card will be admitted to the show at no charge whether or not they attend one of the WKA seminars.

The Race Official Training Program will provide an interactive seminar to help WKA Divisional/Regional Race Series and Master Track officials grow participation, improve operations and increase safety. The seminar will be presented by a panel of experienced karting professionals, and participants will be able to get information specific to their own series or track operations. Based on the needs of the seminar participants, the topics will include:

Race official training
Young driver development
Facilities safety
Insurance and pit pass program
Club, track and series management
Marketing and communications

2-Cycle Tech Inspector Training and Certification will also be offered at the PRI show. The 2011 seminars have been revised and expanded to include the latest technical updates as well as more information on the role of the tech inspector, pre-race tech inspection, tech room procedures and the protest and appeal process. Members who wish to become certified as WKA Technical Inspectors will take the SFI/WKA Certification Examination at the conclusion of the seminar. Those passing the open book examination will receive a 2-year WKA/SFI Technical Inspector certification.

The cost for either seminar is $125. For more information, go to worldkarting.com or contact WKA Vice President, Dan Stowell at dan@dmstowell.com. To register, call Marie Borsuk at WKA Headquarters, 704-455-1606 x11. Participants must be WKA members in good standing and register in advance to attend.

For those who are unable to attend the seminars at Orlando, here is the training schedule for the remainder of 2011:

January 15: Concord, North Carolina - Race Official Training and 4-cycle Tech Inspector Training and Certification

February 13: Englishtown, New Jersey (At Raceway Park) - 2-cycle and 4-cycle Tech Inspector Training and Certification
