June 4, 5 Board of Trustees meeting postponed

06.02.2010 - The WKA Board of Trustees has voted to postpone the upcoming June 4, 5 meeting until a later date. The new date will be announced via the WKA Pit Board.

The decision to postpone the meeting was made due to a very light agenda and close timing to the last board meeting held in March at the WKA office in Concord, N.C.

The Board of Trustees will continue to use conference calls to work on current projects.

Margarettsville Dirt fast approaching, pre-registration open one more week

06.02.2010 - Pre-registration for the WKA Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series' June 18-19 itsTV.tv Nationals at Margarettsville (N.C.) Speedway will close Wednesday, June 9. The closing date gives dirt racers one week to get their pre-entry forms faxed or mailed to WKA.

Go to www.worldkarting.com/downloads/eb-2010/0618_marg_dirt.pdf to view and print the itsTV.tv Nationals entry blank. The WKA fax number is 704-455-1609 or mail to 6051 Victory Lane; Concord, NC 28027.

The Margarettsville event will mark the first Speedway Dirt national utilizing the new one-day format. The track will be open Friday only for parking, registration and pre-tech. Gates will swing open at 7 a.m. Saturday for an action-packed day of three rounds of practice, qualifying and approximately 25 feature events, including national and local-option divisions. Sunday will not be used as a rain date.

The new one-day show has given WKA the opportunity to lower entry fees and pit pass prices. It is now only $55 to pre-enter for a national division, while the Briggs LO206 and Box Stock (Clone) local options are only a $45 pre-entry.

The pit pass price is $15, and passes are available Friday and Saturday. Children age 5 and under get in for only $8.

The itsTV.tv Nationals is also a return to awards for the Speedway Dirt Series. The money series format, which was given trial runs at Daytona and Alma, Ga., has been scrapped in favor of the traditional WKA awards program. This decision was made due to popular demand from Dirt Series racers and teams.
