Classic Cars, Karting on tap at Infineon Raceway this weekend.
SONOMA, Calif. - Infineon Raceway will host two full days of racing action this weekend (Sept. 28-29) on both the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course and Infineon Raceway Karting Center.
Vintage racing will take over the road course on Saturday and Sunday with the Classic Sports Racing Group's annual Fall Frolic. This event will feature more than 180 classic cars spanning the years from 1927 to 1967. Competing in five different classes, spectators are likely to see vintage cars from Mustang, Corvette, Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche. The weekend will also feature the Historic TransAm Race Group with the series' original race cars like Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds.
Gates open each day at 7:30 a.m. and admission is $10. Practice will take place Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with races starting at 1 p.m. For more information, please visit www.csrgracing.org.
The Infineon Raceway Karting Center will feature the final round of the Stars of Tomorrow Series on the three-quarter mile, 16-turn track. This event will feature the conclusion of the six-race series, with championships still up for grabs in seven of the nine classes. Points leaders looking to clinch their championships include Ron White in the premier ICC (Shifter Kart) class, Erik Bartolero (Rotax International), JJ McTernan (Junior 80cc), Ryan Phinny (Junior Superbox), and Jeremy Dewet (Kid Kart).
Gates open each day at 10 a.m. and cost is $7 (kids 7-and-under are free). Saturday will feature practice sessions for all categories. Qualifying will take place in all divisions Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. Main events begin at approximately 1 p.m. on Sunday.
