TAYLOR MIINCH RETURNS WITH BIREL IN 2006

ALPINE, California (1 February 2006) -- Taylor Miinch of Alpine, California resumes his kart racing passion this weekend with the first International Karting Federation race of the year at Cal Speed Kart Track in Fontana, CA. Cal Speed is located on the former Kaiser Steel Mill property now home to California's favorite NASCAR track, the two-mile California Speedway which held its first NASCAR race back in 1997.

Taylor Miinch, #20 TEAM BIREL, will be racing, however, on a smaller scale this weekend. How about a .625-mile kart track located in the parking lot before you head in the tunnel under the California Speedway turn four track. The temporary road course kart track designed with 14-turns along with a 500-foot straightaway exiting turn 14 is a nicely thought out track for the young and experienced karters, including RV camping spots so the whole family can enjoy the racing action for the weekend. No, the kart race won't pack in the 92,000 like the NASCAR favorites bring in several times a year, but I guarantee the pits will be packed and the entries high for the first race of the IKF Region 7 Southwestern Super Series season.

Several early 2006 practices at the track got Miinch back in racing form after a brief off season and holiday vacation. Miinch, 2003 IKF Grand National Champion, moves up to IKF Junior Super Sportsman, JICA, and HPV 2 in 2006 and realizes that the new classes will mean a lot of work, but will be looking forward to being competitive with the older and more experienced racers soon.

This will be Miinch's second year racing under the BIREL colors with Miinch finishing the 2005 IKF year with two wins, five poles, 2nd in Rookie Sportsman, 6th in HPV 1 Cadet, 4th in Junior 1 and 2nd in Formula 80cc Cadet. TEAM BIREL, run under the direction of Dave Thompson of Dave's Performance Karting Shop (Temecula, CA) -- one of southern California's premier kart shops and BIREL's #1 dealer in the USA. "Dave's Performance Karting has provided our racing program the needed technical feedback, test sessions, and factory tuners we need to stay up front. Dave has been great to work with and I look forward to Taylor finishing well in 2006 with BIREL again," said Chuck Miinch. Running both the BIREL AM29C-X MTS and M31-SC MTS chassis' will give Miinch the advantage with the technical evolutions developed by the Italian BIREL racing division.

Plans for the Meridian Christian Elementary sixth grader in 2006 include running all IKF Region 7 Southwestern Super Series races taking the young driver and his crew to Wild Bills (Primm, NV), Buttonwillow Raceway Park (Buttonwillow, CA), Moran Raceway (Beaumont, CA), Cal Speed Kart Track (Fontana, CA), Willow Springs Kart Track (Rosamond, CA), and Grange Motor Circuit (Apple Valley, CA). All but one are familiar tracks to eleven-year-old Miinch and he expects to finish well at each.

Additional racing for Miinch has him returning to the highly competitive Stars of Karting Series, moving up to the JICA class. The Stars Series kicks off with their first race March 17-19 with an East vs West World Event, the "Race of the Americas" in Norman, OK. The event draws top karters from all over North America, as well as International competitors. Miinch will then compete in the Stars of Karting Western Region racing in Arizona, Nevada, California and Canada.

The Miinch off season included a trip to Italy with a tour of the high-profile BIREL factory located in Lissone, Italy. Even Oscar Sala, BIREL President, and his son Ronni greeted Taylor, the entire Miinch family, his crew chief Michael Rossi and Dave Thompson of Dave's Performance Karting during the impressive BIREL factory tour. One of the best tour guides one can have, Gary Loubaugh of MRP Motorsport made the trip a memorable one Taylor and the group will never forget.

Joining Miinch Motorsports in 2006 with their continued support are BIREL, Dave's Performance Karting, Spy, Crystal Cleaners, RLV, VP Racing Fuels, and Douglas Wheel.
