April 14, 2003 (Toronto, Ontario): Holgate Motorsports is pleased to announce its driver and sponsor line up for the 2003 race season. Based in Gilford, Ontario, Holgate Motorsports will field Brad LeLiever and Matt Stovold with title sponsorship from Mr. Sub, Barrie Honda and RV Warehouse.
LeLiever, a nineteen-year-old from Gilford, will concentrate on the Kumho Formula 1200 Championship. Last year, his first in cars after getting his start in karts in 1999, he claimed two wins, placed third in the championship and was Rookie of the Year. This year he is focused on winning the title. When not racing his Formula 1200 car, LeLiever will race karts with the Mosport Kart Club and the Sunoco Ron Fellows Championship.
Sixteen-year-old Stovold hails from Barrie, Ontario. A kart racer who hopes to follow LeLiever into cars next year, Stovold will be competing at the Mosport Kart Club and in the Sunoco Ron Fellows Championship. He will also compete in the Canadian Grand National Championships, which will see Canada's best young racers race on Barrie's waterfront streets.
Team principal John Holgate is looking forward to a busy, but exciting season. Having spent countless hours organizing this year's campaigns and wooing an impressive list of sponsors (Mr. Sub, Barrie Honda, RV Warehouse, Barrie Rent-All, Morden Construction, Producers Group, Movat Eccleston, Vantel Solutions, RJ Leslie Insurance and Summit Ford), Holgate will surely be all smiles when racing gets underway later this month.
"We will be at nearly 30 race events this year," said Holgate. "Both Brad and Matt will be chasing championships, so it's going to be very exciting.
"In addition to the racing, we'll be doing lots of promotional work for all the sponsors who have stepped up to support our team this season. It will be busy, but I'm sure we'll enjoy every minute."
LeLiever and Stovold begin their 2003 campaigns at the end of April. LeLiever will start his Formula 1200 season with a pair of races at Mosport International Raceway on the 26th and 27th, while Stovold kicks off his karting season at the Mosport Kart Club on the 27th.
