On Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley
April 3, 2004 -- Despite of rain, cold, and fog, the first points race at The Greenwood Valley Action Track could only be deemed a success. Eric Perchak, Hazelton, started the Micro Sprint Feature (270cc) on the outside of the front row and lead from flag-to-flag. Perchak was challenged several times for the lead by some hard chargers like Sean "Hollywood" Good, Middleburg who came in second and third place finisher, Rob Pajauis, Asbury, NJ. In the fourth spot was Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, and in fifth was A.J. Bast. The final five of the top ten included Ryan Smith, Hoss Uhrin, Jim Callahan, Denny Rinehimer and Neil Petock.
In the Sportsman Division featuring 250cc engines it was Colby Womer across the line first followed by Denny Rinehimer, owner of Hammer Racing Engines of Bloomsburg, and in third place Nathan Ritter. The final three cars running were driven by Kevin Hayle, Craig Fox and Ron Metzger.
The Rookie Micro Sprint Feature was won by Nick Schlauch who is driving Micros for the first time this year, followed by Hackettstown, New Jersey's, Jeff Schall, in close second. Mike Schuckers, also new to Micros, was third while Todd Letteer, and Jeff Gyurina rounded out the field.
Hopefully, the weather next Saturday night will be more fan friendly, but regardless, there will be racing at The Greenwood Valley Action Track located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville, south of route 254. Gates will open at 3, warm-ups at 4:30 and racing starting at about 5:30. See you at The Action Track.
