On Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley

Shane Penny, in the aptly numbered 1C, or "the one cent car", made even better cents on Saturday night at The Greenwood Valley Action Track as the Berwick resident won the 14th Annual Firecracker 500. There was an 800 dollar winners prize and Penny held the lead in the 270cc Micro Sprint charge from the starting green flag to the final checked. In the second position was Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, who tried every avenue past the leader to no avail. In the third spot was Hazelton's Ross Perchak, while Terry Schane, Hamlin, came in fourth. Denny Rinehimer and Eric Heydenreich, both from Bloomsburg, took the fifth and sixth spots and Scott Kishbaugh, brother of the winner, also from Nescopeck was seventh. Rounding out the top ten were Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos, Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, and Pat Bealer, Northampton.

In the Sportsman Micro Sprint 250cc event Brian Kishbaugh won his seventh feature of the year with Kevin Hayle, Bloomsburg, in close pursuit. Third was Kirk Miller, Catawissa, while the rest of the field consisted of Mike Schuckers, Bob Belcher, George Kerstetter and Ryan Gavlick.

The Rookies took to The Action Track with Ken Duke, Selinsgrove, winning his third in this division. Four wins and the driver must move up to either the Sportsman or Regular Micro Sprints. In the second spot was Britt Rider, Millville, third, Jeff Schall, Hackettstown, NJ, and fourth Tim Suydam, Lehighton. Brian Zanalini was fifth and the rest of the top ten were Tammy Schane, Hamlin, Dave Mooers and Ken Weeks. Russ Thornton and Kyle Jones rounded out the top ten.

The Greenwood Valley Action Track would like to thank everyone for a wonderful 4th of July weekend, and invite you to come every Saturday night 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of route 254. On the 25th of July, a Friday night, The Action Track will present our second Figure 8 race of the season. Gates open at 5, the bashing and crashing starts soon after. See you at The Action Track.
