Saturday night's 270cc Micro Sprint Feature delivered a double benefit to two of the event's driver. Both Joe Bednarski, 1999 Action Track Micro Sprint Champion, and Chris Smith, who claimed first and second place prize money also guaranteed themselves a starting place in the 2001 Season's first big money race. In third spot was Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, while Joel VanBuskirk, Selinsgrove, was fourth and David Utt, Catawissa, fifth. Jason Rice, a Tipoli resident, was sixth, Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove, seventh and in eighth place was Michael Ruttkamp, Wilton, CT. Rounding out the top ten were Frank Venezia, Little Ferry, NJ, in ninth and in the tenth spot was Shane Penny, Berwick.

Adding to his tenth place finish in the 270cc feature, Shane Penny, won the 250cc Sportsman Micro sprint 250cc with his 1¢ car, while in second place was another driver who ran in two classes for the night, Michael Ruttkamp. Finishing third was Bob Puterbaugh, Millville, fourth was Jay Horvath, Allentown, fifth was Rick Morris, Catawissa, sixth Hoss Uhrin, Freeland, and in seventh was Chad Phillips. Claiming eighth spot was Denny Faus, Millville, while in ninth was Kyle Rhoads, Sunbury, on his 17th birthday, and in tenth for the Sportsmen was Paul Faus, Rohrsburg.

For the second week in a row, Chop Slusser, Bloomsburg, won the Rookie Micro Sprint Feature. The lightning fast Keystone Midget Lites were at The Action Track on Saturday night with veteran driver Rob Howell, Milton, taking first place and then announcing that after many years of racing, winning and entertaining he was retiring after his win in the night's Feature. He will be missed on the local racing circuits. Jeff Yordy, Millville, was a close second while Sunbury's Jeff Black was third and fourth was Frank Stafire.

Another special visit to The Greenwood Valley Action Track was the 1200cc Legend cars. Modeled after vintage hot rod Fords, Chevys and Chryslers of the 40s and 50s, the cars and drivers put on a major show. By the reaction of the large crowd in attendance, the June return of the Legends will be welcomed.

Next week The Action Track offers $500 to the winner of its annual Racers Tribute Memorial Race for 270cc Micro Sprints. This show is always exciting, so bring the family and join your friends for a Memorable Weekend race at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of Rt. 254.
