Success in racing requires that a driver love competition and have a good crew. According to Saturday night's Micro Sprint Feature winner, Colby Womer, he really likes the team that supports him at every race and their support goes a long way toward winning. Taking the lead early in the Feature, from his outside pole position, Womer held off hard charging Neil Petock, Bloomsburg, and Joe Bednarski, Wyoming, as they followed in his tire tracks for most of the contest. Finishing fourth and fifth were Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, and Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove. In sixth was Skeetz Hockenbrock who comes for Paxinos, seventh was Nick Lannan, Montoursville, eighth was Jason Kemp, Bloomsburg and Eric Perchak, Hazelton was ninth. Finally, rounding out the top ten, was Eric Heydenreich, Bloomsburg.
Moving one step closer to joining the regular Micro Sprint Division, Scott Tate, Middleburg, captured his third checkered flag of the 2000 Season in the Rookie Micro Feature. Tate got around Michael Ruttkamp, when the Wilton, CT, racer suffered ignition problems with only a few laps remaining. Ruttkamp dropped off the pace, settling for second place. Third went to Frank Venezia, Little Ferry, NJ, fourth place was claimed by Ross Perchak, Hazelton, and fifth was taken by Denny Rhinehimer, Bloomsburg. In sixth was K.C. Smith, Reading, seventh, Rick Morris, Catawissa, and coming in eighth was Phil Weinstiger, Green Lane. Ninth was Dusty Jagger, Port Crane, NY, and Rob Pajauis, Asbury, NJ, rounded out the top ten.
Eleven wingless Micro Sprint warriors put on a special show with Skeetz Hockenbrock, K.C. Smith and Jason Kemp finishing first through third.
Next Saturday brings the 11th annual Firecracker 500 for Micro Sprints, with $800 to win. A large field of competitors is expected for the holiday Show. Come and bring the family to the Greenwood Valley Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of route 254. See you at The Action Track.
