Marshall Martin Named Race Director of PJ1/Grand Prix Distributing $50,000 TaG Spectacular to be Held April 9-10 2005 at Bakers Creek Raceway, Decatur Alabama
Toledo Ohio USA - In a continuing tradition of hiring the most qualified, highly experienced officials in Karting, Grand Vitesse Racing has appointed Marshall Martin to serve as Race Director for the PJ1/Grand Prix Distributing $50,000 TaG Spectacular to be held on April 9-10 2005 at The Baker's Creek Raceway in Decatur Alabama.
Mr. Martin, who currently serves as Race Director for the Rotax Max Series brings enormous experience and knowledge to this position.
In addition to his current Race Director position with The Rotax Max Series (which will continue and not be affected by this appointment) he served 5 years as Operations Director of South Bend (Indiana) Raceway Park, Race Director for the Plymouth Grand Prix, The Mishawka Grand Prix, has been involved with the Elkhart Grand Prix and numerous other National Events.
In discussing the position at the E-KMI Show last weekend in Saint Charles Illinois, when asked about his exact years of Karting involvement he simply jokingly answered "Way too long" and made reference to the 1960's and the formative days of the sport.
As the head of a "Karting Family" Mr. Martin still races in HPV4 on occasion, and has a daughter actively racing in 100 Senior Sportsman.
He currently resides in South Bend Indiana.
"Mr. Martin will be a great asset to the Grand Vitesse Racing Officials team" said that company's General Manager Glen Mazzone.
"When you are paying the largest purses in all of Karting history, (as Grand Vitesse Racing is, in this history making series) you have to have officials who are simply the best, most knowledgeable and experienced people in their field! We established this as the way we do business at the TaG Spectacular last month in Gainesville, with Chris Egger as Race Director and Martin Casey as Director of Tech. Both men did a fantastic job!" Although prior commitments prohibit Mr. Egger from returning for this event, Mr. Martin will join the returning Mr. Casey. Functioning in these key positions, both officials will ensure a smooth, well run and fair event for all involved.
Both Mr. Martin and Mr. Casey will have challenging tasks, as a full field is expected for both $10,000 Feature events and $5,000 support events..Racers in all disciplines have been know for "creative" interpretation of the rules...Furthermore, the events at Bakers Creek will be televised and there are huge incentives to win...Both officials will make sure all competitors are legal and safe, and ensure an enjoyable event for all!
Entries are being accepted for both events until April 4, 2005, or until all positions are filled. (The Maximum number of entries will be limited at this event.)
