"California pilot travels to Florida"

Jupiter, Florida -- February 25, 2008 -- California pilot Taylor Miinch claimed another top ten result at the second round of Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour that was held at the Moroso Motorsports Park in Jupiter, Florida . Looking to gain as much seat time as possible before the start of the national campaign, Miinch teamed with tuner Chris Wierheim in the sunshine state as the duo would look to fight for victory.

After a successful practice day which saw the young Californian place sixth on the time charts, Miinch and his Top Kart USA team were hoping to improve in Saturday's first day of racing action. Always a threat for the victory, Miinch circuited the Moroso facility with the ninth quickest time among the 32 Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) pilots that were registered. A mid-pack starting position would be disastrous for Miinch as a first corner incident would send him to the tail of the field and force him to fight his way through unfamiliar drivers in his march towards the front. The 13-year-old would eventually finish the day eleventh.

"In order to finish good you must qualify well," stated Taylor Miinch after Saturday's competition. "Starting that far back in the field makes it tough to avoid certain situations that happen in front of you. We are here in Florida for testing and seat time but whenever you are on the track, you want to win. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day".

Sunday started out a little better for the Alpine, CA resident as a better qualifying run would see him line up inside row number three in the fifth position. Looking to attack and move forward early, Miinch did so only to be shuffled back later in the race. Miinch would maintain his starting position for the final around a host of national level pilots that would all be gunning for the victory.

The start of the final would prove to be difficult for the International Kart Federation Grand National karting champion as he was again relegated to the tail of the field as he traveled through the grass to miss a first corner incident. Lapping the course as fast as the third and fourth place drivers, Miinch sliced through the field like a veteran as he entered the top twenty, then top fifteen and eventually the top ten. Determined to drive hard to the very end, Miinch managed to pick off a few more drivers before crossing the strip in seventh place.

In 2008, Miinch will have a full schedule competing in the Florida Winter Tour, Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar, International Kart Federation, Gatorz Cup and other selected events throughout the year.
