Canadian team back to battle after scoring two wins at second Moroso weekend
Ocala, FL (March 6, 2008) -- PSL Karting is preparing for the first of two weekends of competition that will complete the 2008 edition of the Florida Winter Tour. The third and final rounds will take place this weekend at the Ocala Gran Prix in Ocala, Florida with the Rotax program on tap to kick-off to back-to-back weekends of racing. The Quebec-based CRG importer will field nine drivers in three categories with a chance at a couple of championships hanging in the balance.
Canadian Olivier Sirois will lead the Rotax Senior squad for PSL Karting. The Quebec driver sits fourth in the championship standings, currently 48 points back of the outright leader. With the best five of six races counting towards the crown following Sunday's events, Sirois has a strong shot at the title should he be able to put in two good performances this weekend. Mexican Rudy Camarillo improved from round one to round two and hopes to continue this direction of momentum heading into the finale, possibly moving into the top-10 in the standings. PSL Junior driver Chris Ernst will move up to the Senior ranks for the final round, and will be focused on coming up to speed against this new level of competition. Julia Claveau will try to bounce back from an injury at round two, while Frederico Moreno will make his '08 FWT debut with PSL Karting this weekend.
Only two drivers will run in the Rotax Masters division for PSL Karting, but both have a chance at the championship. Denis Lachance and Michel Legrand - both aboard PSL CRG's - sit second and third in the Masters standings heading to Ocala. Lachance has two podium finishes on the year while Legrand has been a consistent top ten runner. Both drivers are primed to fight it out all weekend.
In Rotax Junior, Jesus Rios Jr. and Tommy Beshro will carry the PSL Karting banner. Rios currently sits eighth in the championship hunt with the chance at a top-five position after this weekend's events. Beshro made a huge improvement in his results from round one to round two, putting himself inside the top-15 in the points with a shot at the top-10.
