14 June, 2003 - After dominating Junior Sportsman in the opening round of the Super Cheap Auto Junior Blitz Series Jayair Castrol driver James Love again proved to be the pace setter during the opening day of the second round today.
Competing at Geelong's Beckley Park circuit Love charged from 17th position in the opening heat to finish a fine third.
Justin Schneider led the early running of the heat before being passed by Jordie Lindstrom and Ben Small on the Ford Racing Main Straight mid race.
Lindstrom, Small and Love raced nose-to-tail over the closing laps before Lindstrom claimed the narrow victory.
In the second heat Andrew Budge showed the way during the opening lap before Kristian Lindbom found a way into the lead during the second lap. By mid race Love had taken over the front running closely pursued by Lindstrom and Small.
The leading trio exchanged the top spots throughout the remainder of the race before Love regained the lead with under half a lap remaining to snare the victory. Small finished second ahead of Lindstrom.
After failing to finish the first heat David Sera claimed fourth ahead of Lindbom.
Mark Dorbolo claimed a flag-to-flag victory in ARC Junior National Heavy heat, as David Sera was the big mover in the pack charging from 18th to finish second. Last round victor, Jonathan Taylor was third.
Also competing in ARC Junior National Light Sera was again the big mover at the start of the event manoeuvring from deep in the pack to lead the field during the opening lap and then drive away with an easy victory.
Daniel Reynolds drove a consistent race for second ahead of Andrew McFarland while leading contenders Robert Munnerley, Brent Reading and Bradley Cady all spun out in separate incidents.
Once again Leigh Nicoloau proved too good in the Sniper Rookies class to take out the sole heat of the day after a battle with Josh Hughes.
Jordan Ford claimed the Comer Midgets heat ahead of Jesse Fenech and Ben Lincoln.
The Super Cheap Auto Series will continue tomorrow with a further heat race, Pre-Final and Final.
The Geelong Karting Circuit is located at Beckley Park, Geelong Road Corio adjacent to the Geelong trotting track approximately 5 kilometres north of Geelong.
