FIRSTKART.COM FLORIDA WINTER TOUR MOROSO PREVIEW
"FirstKart.com race team will look to add to weekend one win total"
Guelph, ON. -- February 6, 2006 -- The FirstKart.com race team will once again head south for the second round of Formula Kart's Florida Winter Tour. With three race wins in the first round of the series, the FirstKart.com race team will look to better that result this coming weekend at Moroso Motorsports Park in Jupiter, FL.
Defending Pro Shifter Champion and event one podium winner Daniel Morad will once again look to be upfront in the headline class. Joining Morad will be Calgary's Nick Maddison as he looks to rebound after a tough opening round. Maddison had the speed to run inside the top ten but was involved in incidents at the start of both finals that took him out of contention. Nick will be back on course in Moroso working with his FirstKart.com Pro Shifter teammate.
Sharon, Ontario's Eric Gerrits will be back for the Moroso event as he will look to continue his winning ways. Gerrits scored the year's first checkers as he claimed the Rotax Senior win in round one. Gerrits, who was '05's Canadian National Champion and represented Canada at the Rotax World Finals in Malaysia, will be a threat for the series championship come March.
Idaho's Brett Smrz will back aboard his FirstKart.com entry as he will once again do battle in Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) and Rotax Junior. Smrz was able to garner a victory in each class during the opening round weekend and will look to take over the points lead in both classes in Moroso. Mexican Rudy Camarillo will partner Smrz in the Rotax Junior class as he looks to compete in his first FWT event.
Floridians Robert Francis and George Brewer will once again be in attendance, as Francis will steer his First Kart entry in the Expert Shifter division while Brewer will compete in TaG Heavy. Brewer, who had two top five results in Homestead, currently sits second in the overall championship and will look to move forward. Super Kart Illustrated's Rob Howden will join Brewer in the TaG division as the duo will look to take the top two podium positions.
2006 is going to be an exciting year for the team as First Kart North America will travel to all East and West coast events in the Stars of Karting Championship, the World Karting Association Manufactures Cup and the Florida Winter Tour. Arrive and Drive opportunities are available for any interested parties.
