Homestead visit rapidly closing in.
Turkey Day is coming with its cornucopia of Thanksgiving treats, football games and snoring respites around the television. But there's no time to get fat! November 29, 30 and December 1, Endurance Karting moves to the sub-tropical climes of South Florida for a racing weekend full of events designed to take off that Thanksgiving weight gain.
Friday, it is Racing School on the little course at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Registration opens at 7:30 am and the track will be warming to tires by 9. Give the first holiday present of the season by inviting the whole family to learn the intricacies of going fast. It ain't so easy as it looks!
Friday afternoon an hour of practice included in the next day's activities follows the School with paid practice sessions after that.
Six hours of all-out racing tops the schedule on Saturday preceded by a driver's meeting and a 20-minute qualifying session setting the lineup for the LeMans-style start at 10 am. Fifteen pit stops later, if you have it figured right, you'll roar under the checkered flag and start the ritual refreshment-spraying final awards ceremonies.
But the racing isn't finished for the weekend as Sunday, in cooperation with the Ferrari Owners Club, Endurance Karting is staging a series of sprint races. Practice/Qualifying sets the field for the heat races. Competitors collect points in those races toward a starting position for the double-points feature and the winner is calculated with the most points for the day!
It's a new format for Endurance Karting and one we hope will be real popular in the future. So come on out and get in some real, individual racing without the complication of team orders. (Schumacher will not be letting off at the flag for this one!)
So come one, come all for a Thanksgiving weekend blast in the Endurance Karting fashion.
