TAYLOR MIINCH VICTORIOUS WSK NORTH AMERICAN SERIES
"CKI TaG Senior driver scores podiums Phoenix"
May 18, 2010 -- Team Top Kart USA/De La O Miinch Motorsports driver Taylor Miinch and his P1 Engines powered Top Kart scored another win this past weekend at the second round of the WSK North American Series by CKI. With the event taking place at the challenging and fast PKRA facility in Phoenix, Arizona, Miinch claimed a solid podium position on Saturday and improved on Sunday to stand atop the box
"I need to thank my tuner this weekend Steven Barros," expressed Miinch after the completion of the event. "Steven is a Top Kart guru and is very knowledgeable about the chassis. This was the first time that we have worked together and we won. I think we make a very good team and are confident that there are several more wins to come for us in the future. Also, this was the first weekend for the Team Top Kart USA/De La O Miinch Motorsports team and we managed to score a few victories. I am looking forward to the rest of the 2010 racing season."
Friday's unofficial practice sessions started well for the new tuner/driver combination as by the end of the first official day, the duo ended up as the quickest team in the TaG Senior division. Looking to carry that momentum into Saturday's race day, Miinch and Barros went to work to prepare their P1 Engines powered Top Kart for racing action.
Saturday greeted competitors with sunny skies and hot temperatures as Miinch paced the field in the early morning warm up session. Unfortunately, qualifying would not be the same for Miinch as he was only able to turn the second quickest time and would be forced to start outside the front row. When the green flag flew for the start of the pre final, Miinch would falter from the outside row and fall back to third. After battling hard with the second place driver, the leader drew away from the pack before the Top Kart of Miinch could move into second where he would finish.
The start of the final was a carbon copy of the pre final as the leader would open a gap on the rest of his rivals. Miinch would eventually move into the second position and would begin to hunt down the leader. With one of the fastest karts on the track, Miinch turned some of the quickest laps of the weekend as he chased down the man on the point. Miinch would eventually catch the leader but it was too little too late as the talented senior was unable to make a bid for the lead before the checkered flag flew.
Sunday would be a completely different day for Miinch as he managed to sweep all of the day's action. After qualifying on the pole position and taking the pre final win, Miinch dominated the main event to score his first WSK North American Series by CKI victory and the first TaG Senior win for the new Team Top Kart USA/De La O Miinch Motorsports team.
Miinch continued, "We were a little disappointed after Saturday's final so Steven and I made it our goal to win at all costs on Sunday. We really focused on what the kart was doing in Saturday's main event and tried to make it better for Sunday. The changes we made were spot on and we were able to show our true speed."
