15 Year old Team Kiwi Racing junior development driver, Chris Vander Drift, concluded his most successful karting season ever by clinching the Yamaha Junior Dirt National Title at Rotorua's Paradise Springs Raceway on Saturday 24th November. Chris adds this prestigious title to his impressive tally this year, consisting of:

*       National Junior Yamaha

* National Junior ICA
* National Junior Yamaha Dirt
* CIK Trophy of New Zealand
* JICA New Zealand Pro Series
* North Island Junior Yamaha

The Dirt Nationals were Chris's first foray onto the dirt oval and he showed his versatility by dominating proceedings all day. "I found a good chassis set-up and kept my driving tight and smooth all day", said Chris after dominating the final heat. "The dirt oval severely punishes you if you venture off line", he added.

Chris will now enjoy a well deserved break until the 2002 season resumes in January. Chris will be moving up to the senior ranks next season and looks set to challenge the established senior drivers. "At the moment we are planning to contest the Yamaha Light class in New Zealand as well as one of the major classes in Australia next season", said Wayne Attwell, Team Spokesperson.
