STATEMENT FROM AUSTRALIAN KARTING ASSOCIATION -- VALE BILL GREEN, GLENN PITCHERS AND NORM WRIGHT

The Australian Karting Association has been saddened this week by the tragic passing of three Western Australian karting identities.

Western Australia State Safety Officer Bill Green, Esperance Club President Glenn 'Rowdy' Pitchers and club Safety Officer Norm Wright were all tragically killed after their plane crashed just 4km short of Esperance airport while experiencing bad weather as they were making their approach to the airport.

All three were returning from Perth after attending a WA State Karting Council meeting on Saturday.

"The three gentlemen who were tragically killed in Saturday night's accident were an integral part of the sport in Western Australia and they will be sorely missed by all karters in the region," said AKA President Richard Erdmann.

The Australian Karting Association offers its condolences to the family and friends of the three men at this time.
